Making the Money Work

We know you have a choice of provider whether you are purchasing privately, using an individual budget or having a service purchased on your behalf by one of the Trusts. Getting the money in the right place matters!
Mrs Smyth had £500 a week to spend on making sure her father was safe and well at night. After talking with our Locality Manager and Head of Finance she:
  • Bought a key safe so carers can enter safely
  • Bought a large button telephone so her father could make calls easily
  • Bought an alert pendant
  • Bought two hours a night for a bedtime service for her father
Mrs Bloggs wanted to play a more active role in her son’s support. He had received back injuries that meant he required assistance getting in and out of bed and in using the bathroom:
  • Bought a key safe so carers can enter safely
  • Bought a large button telephone so her father could make calls easily
  • Bought an alert pendant
  • Bought two hours a night for a bedtime service for her father
After talking with the Nurse who delivers our Manual Handling Training she:
  • Bought a new chair for £600
  • Bought bed aides for £300
  • Extra Care provided £500 of training and support on Moving and Handling and now she does not have paid carers visiting…well only for respite support
